Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) created by Aaron L. Mattes is one of the methods of stretching most used by today's athletes, massage therapists, personal/athletic trainers, and professionals. This method of stretching involves a series of stretches characterized by a two minute hold time for each stretch. Active Isolated Stretching can be facilitated by a therapist or done independently. The benefits of Active Isolated stretching are improved circulation and increased elasticity of muscles, joints and fascia. Active Isolated Stretching can also help relieve pain associated with sciatica and other postural distortions. A typical one hour session of Active Isolated stretching will involve a series of assisted stretches facilitated by a Massage Therapist certified in AIS. The session will then be followed by Individual instructions for proper stretching techniques which can be easily be done at home. Book by Aaron L. Mattes also available for purchase.
